It will not be long before bells start to ring and hallways are filled with chatter and laughter. The 2018 school year is on the heels of educators across the country and Local Motors decided to get in on the action to take them back to school.

On Thursday, August 2nd, we hosted our first Back to School event for educators in Knoxville, TN at our microfactory in Hardin Valley. There were educators from over 21 different schools and organizations representing schools such as L&N Stem Academy, Western Carolina University, Shannondale Elementary School, and Northwest Middle to name a few.

The city of Knoxville is known for having one of the best education systems in the state of Tennessee, which further amped up our excitement to host the educators teaching our local geniuses.

The evening commenced with a presentation about Local Motors and our role in automotive manufacturing as a digital OEM, followed by a tour of the microfactory and a demonstration given by Siemens of their Solid Edge software. Guests were fascinated by the evolution of automotive manufacturing as well as the number of products on the market that were developed using Siemens software, like the popular Razor scooter.
