Design the ticketing, security and boarding process, the capsule interior and exterior and the station interior and exterior, conduct initial feasibility studies, and engineering to bring Elon Musk's proposed "open source" transit system to reality. The LM community is the perfect collaborative mix of creative, technical, and hard-working people from around the globe to make it happen.
Step 1 is to design the ticketing/boarding process to ensure that this revolutionary concept doesn't get bogged down in the mire of current thinking about scheduling, security, transportation or booking. Then, design the capsule interior and exterior to ensure passenger comfort and functionality. Finally design the station interior and exterior to ensure that the new processes designed can be smoothly implemented for the anticipated volume of travelers.
Step 2 is to prove that it CAN be done. We need to complete a functional decomposition of the proposed system and do the 2nd order calculations (Elon's team already did most of the 1st order) that demonstrate that the assumptions made are correct, and whether the proposed design is feasible, or needs to be adjusted.
Step 3 is to do the engineering, design and analysis necessary to build a suitable demonstration system that validates the calculations and simulations, allows the team to cut their teeth on construction and operations and leaves behind a useful system for those visionary enough to host the prototype system between their communities.
